Bio
Jian-Feng Shi (Ph.D., P.Eng, PMP)
has over 21 years of experience in spacecraft and robotic guidance, navigation, and controls (GNC).
Jian-Feng has led various flight mission analyses at MDA including ISS free-flyer
robotic capture, dynamic simulator designs, and satellite servicing mission planning.
Jian-Feng received his B.Eng (2001), M.Sc (2004) in Aerospace Engineering from
Carleton University and the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies
respectively. Jian-Feng is an alumnus of the International Space
University SSP (2007). Jian-Feng received his Ph.D. (2019) in Aerospace Engineering
from Carleton University.
Since 2003, Jian-Feng has instructed at the
University of Toronto Da-vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP)
teaching secondary-school students in
spacecraft orbital mechanics,
robotics and computer vision, and
project management.
Jian-Feng is the vice-chair of the AIAA Space Automation and Robotics Technical Committee,
NSERC Collaborative Research, and Training Experience (CREATE) Program
Smart Autonomous Robotic Technology (SMART-ART) committee member,
and he is currently a Senior GNC Engineer at MDA specialising in machine
vision,
artificial intelligence,
dynamic simulations, and project management.
